Passport to Value
As part of the Editorial Playbook programme promoted by Inkygoodness, I selected the briefing “Passport to Value,” set by illustrator and mentor Molly McCammon.
The brief involved creating a full-page illustration for Wine Spectator to accompany an article titled “Passport to Value.” The article explores the best value-for-money wines around the world, highlighting the diversity, quality, and stories behind global wine regions.
Excerpt from the brief:
The illustration should convey a sense of adventure in the world of wine — global, inviting, and imaginative.
Create a bold, full-page illustration that captures the idea of wine as a global journey.
Communicate a feeling of exploration, discovery, and value, without resorting to clichés.
Complement the sophisticated and informative tone of the magazine.

I developed a retro, character-driven composition in which a couple dances while enjoying their wine. The world becomes their stage — a metaphor for wine tourism and the idea of wine as a global journey. Subtle background elements evoke a vineyard landscape, helping to anchor the scene while maintaining a sense of movement, celebration, and discovery.
