The Story of the Portuguese Christmas Tree

Like many companies around the holidays, we at Cadernos de Campo (field notebooks) looked for a meaningful way to celebrate. So, we explored the origins of Portugal’s Christmas tree and turned that research into a short animated piece for social media.

This hand-drawn style starts by isolating every on-screen element to simulate live drawing. With specialized software, I then carefully sync the hand’s motion to each cue, so the final piece plays back as the image being drawn in real time.
